The BPSC Assistant Education Development Officer (AEDO) recruitment (Advt. No. 87/2025) is purely based on a single-stage Written Examination (Objective Type), making the preparation highly focused. There will be no interview.

Key Exam Rules and Marking Scheme

  • Marks per Question: Each question carries 1 mark.

  • Negative Marking: There is a penalty of 1/3 mark for every incorrect answer across all three papers. This makes selective answering crucial.

Qualifying Criteria: The Mandatory Threshold

The selection process has two crucial stages of qualification based on marks:

A. General Language Paper (Qualifying Nature)

This paper is only to check minimum proficiency, and its marks are not added to the final merit list.

  • Requirement: Candidates must secure a minimum of 30% marks separately in both General English (Part-1) and General Hindi (Part-2).

  • Consequence: Failure to achieve this minimum mark in either part will lead to the non-evaluation of the General Studies and General Aptitude papers, leading to direct disqualification.

Minimum Qualifying Marks (for Merit Papers)

Once a candidate clears the Language paper, their marks in General Studies and General Aptitude are evaluated. They must meet the following aggregate minimum scores in these two papers (Total 200 Marks) to be eligible for the merit list:

Detailed Subject-Wise Syllabus

I. General Language (Qualifying)

This paper tests language usage, grammar, and comprehension skills in both Hindi and English.

II. General Studies (Counted for Merit)

This section assesses general awareness, with a special emphasis on Bihar's context.

  • Current Affairs: National and International Events of Social and Economic Importance, Major Government Policies and Reforms, Reports & Indices.

  • History: History of India with special attention to Bihar's History and Culture. Major Features of the Indian National Movement and Bihar's contribution to it.

  • Geography: Geography of India and Bihar (Physical, Social, and Economic). Focus on major physical features, rivers (especially in Bihar), and resources.

  • Polity & Economy: Indian Polity, Constitution, State System, and Governance. Indian Economy and economic development in Bihar post-independence.

  • General Science & Technology: Basic principles of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (everyday observation). Recent developments in Science & Technology.

III. General Aptitude (Counted for Merit)

This paper evaluates candidates' numerical, reasoning, and analytical skills.

  • Quantitative Aptitude: Number System, Simplification, Decimals & Fractions, Percentage, Ratio & Proportion, Average, Profit & Loss, Simple & Compound Interest, Mensuration (2D & 3D), Time & Work, Time, Speed & Distance, Problems on Age, Pipes & Cisterns, Basic Statistics.

  • Reasoning & Analytical Ability: Logical Reasoning, Problem Solving, Analytical Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning (Series, Classification, Coding-Decoding), Data Interpretation (Tables, Bar Graphs, Pie Charts).
